This policy explains what personal data Uback processes, why, for how long, who receives it, and how you can exercise your rights. It applies to everyone who uses uback.com: visitors, people who contact us or request a correction, analysts, company representatives, and Backers.

3. People mentioned in our content
Our rankings, company pages and investor pages are built from public information about companies and investors. They may mention people in their professional capacity, for example a founder or an investor named in a funding round.
- We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest, and that of our readers, in publishing information about economic actors.
- We use professional information only, from public sources.
- A company cannot ask to be removed from a ranking, because it is not personal data.
- A person mentioned by name may object to the mention of their name, or ask for a correction, at privacy@uback.com. We will assess each request and remove the name unless it is necessary to the information published.
4. No decision about you is made by an algorithm
Uback's AI models rank companies, not people. No decision producing legal effects on you, or significantly affecting you, is taken solely by automated processing.
5. Who receives your data
- Our service providers, acting on our instructions only:
- website hosting: Cloudflare, Inc. and GitHub, Inc.;
- form delivery: Web3Forms, which forwards form messages to our mailbox;
- e-mail: OVHcloud (OVH SAS, France);
- audience measurement: Google Ireland Limited, only with your consent;
- payments, once Intentions open: a third-party payment provider, named here before it is used.
- Local Partners: a Backer's identity and contact details are passed to a Local Partner only with the Backer's prior consent, and only when a Pool containing its Intention is passed to that partner. The Local Partner then processes the data as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We never sell personal data, and we never pass it on for advertising.
6. Transfers outside the European Union
Some of our providers are based in the United States or elsewhere outside the European Union. Transfers are covered by an adequacy decision, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified companies, or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Contact and profile requests | 3 years after our last exchange |
| Correction requests | As long as the ranking history they concern is published, so that every correction stays traceable |
| Follow list | Until you unsubscribe, or 3 years without any interaction |
| Backer account data | For the life of the account, then 5 years (limitation period) |
| Invoices and accounting records | 10 years (legal obligation) |
| Audience measurement | Cookies: 13 months maximum. Analytics data: 14 months |
| Your cookie choice | 6 months, then we ask again |
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data and obtain a copy;
- rectify your data;
- have your data erased;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
- receive the data you provided in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- give instructions on what happens to your data after your death.
Write to privacy@uback.com. We may ask you to prove your identity. We reply within one month.
If you consider that your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or with the supervisory authority of your country.
9. Cookies and audience measurement
Uback measures its audience with Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited), only if you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit.
- Until you accept, no measurement cookie is set and no data is sent to Google. Ignoring the banner counts as a refusal.
- If you accept, Google Analytics sets the
_gaand_ga_*cookies (maximum lifetime: 13 months) to count visits and page views, statistically. This data is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is not sold. It may be transferred to the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. - Your choice is stored on your device for 6 months. You can change it at any time with the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page. A refusal deletes any measurement cookies already set.
Uback sets no advertising cookies and no social network trackers.
10. Security
Access to personal data is limited to those who need it. Our providers are chosen for their security commitments. Card details are handled by the payment provider and are never stored by Uback.
11. Professionals only
Uback is intended for professionals. It is not directed at minors, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
Uback is in beta, and this policy will evolve with the service. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will notify Backers of any material change by e-mail and in their account.
